WHERE TO EAT

As part of our new Sustainability Initiative, look for this logo to indicate companies that are making a significant commitment to serving locally grown produce or locally-caught seafood. A large part of Bermuda’s carbon footprint comes from the food that we import, so the more we can purchase locally, the less of an impact we have on the global environment. Plus, supporting our local businesses, restaurants and farmers is good for the economy. The inclusion of this logo does not indicate endorsement of a product or business on behalf of the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge. Instead, the placement of this logo is meant to help guide participants, especially overseas participants, in their quest to making more sustainable food and lodging purchases during their stay in Bermuda. If you see a business that is missing from this list, please email [email protected].

One of the longest standing restaurants in Bermuda, reflecting the twin island influences of Capri and the Somers Isles, La Trattoria is a popular choice for local residents, a favourite for families and a haven for groups of young professionals looking for value. Succulent meats, flavourful fish and, of course, the only wood-burning pizza oven in town. The sense of Italy in every bite. The pizza is one you would find on a trip to Naples, Italy. With the thin crust, fresh mozzarella cheese and homegrown basil, you will find yourself quickly wanting to come back for more! Desserts are always a must! One of the favorites at La Trattoria is the canoli. La Trattoria makes the Napolitan style, which is a puff pastry shaped like a cone, containing a delectable ricotta filling with confectionary sugar delicately sprinkled over the top; it is simply irresistible!

Perched above Little Venice, on the western edge of Hamilton, it is easily overlooked from the outside. But ascend the stairs and you will quickly see what makes this a mecca for lovers of authentic Asian fusion cuisine. Time and again, L’Oriental is praised for its welcoming atmosphere and cheerful waiters who are genuinely happy to see you. The décor is also unique, accented with finished woods, cured pagoda roods and dark marble. Hints are red draw wandering eyes, as do the subtle flower arrangements and greenery. There is also an outside balcony where guests can dine under the stars.

Little Venice is Bermuda’s first and most famous Italian restaurant, located on Bermudiana Road in the City of Hamilton. Celebrating 50 years of fabulous service, fine food and meticulously prepared classic and contemporary regional Italian specialties ranging from its significant ties to the Campania region as well as Lombardia, Veneto and Liguria with famous dishes such as the signature Cacio e Pepe personally prepared at your table. The restaurant has a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere with various seating areas, providing a cozy table for two or a table front and centre to be seen by the surrounding ‘Wall Street of Bermuda’ clientele. The outside terrazzo with its new and expanded al fresco area is the heart of Hamilton’s outdoor dining, creating additional excitement to an already dynamic scene. Little Venice is also recognized as a Beyond Plastic “Champion” for reducing their use of single use plastics; for this, they receive the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge Sustainability Initiative logo.

The Huckleberry Restaurant, located within the historic main house of the historic Rosedon Hotel adheres to its philosophy of consciously sources, seasonally driven, and locally focused. The menu features fruits and vegetables from local gardens, as well as honey from the hotel’s own hives, and visitors will be hard pressed to walk away without a bag of freshly baked goodies from the Huckleberry kitchen, which include muffins, scones, cookies, cakes and even vegan options, as well as all of their bread baked fresh on site. The chefs partner with local fishermen to get the freshest catch of the day, which are certified by Ethic Ocean for sustainable fishing practices, and herbs, fruit, and vegetables are used not only in their dishes, but in freshly made juices as well.

Devil’s Isle has a mission to connect people to wholesome quality nutrition through innovation, education and creativity while being environmentally conscious. Their menu features standards that locals have come to local, as well as a daily menu that changes to reflect the availability of fresh seafood and produce. Devil’s Isle also has their own Sustainability Initiative, which involves regularly donating food to the Daily Bread Programme (through the Eliza Doolittle Society), where volunteers ensure it reaches those in our society who need it most.

Although it’s located on the east end of the island in the historic town of St. George’s (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), a visit to Wahoo’s is well worth the trip! Their waterfront location is perfect for enjoying an afternoon or evening enjoying the sights of St. George’s Harbour, and the menu changes daily according to the catch brought in by local fishermen. Their wahoo nuggets are a staple and you can’t go wrong with the Bermuda Triangle (rockfish, wahoo, and mahi mahi, served with peas and rice, cole slaw, plantain and pawpaw chutney). And if it’s after 5pm, ask about their award-winning prickly pear martini!
